Job description

The Radiography Program Director is responsible for developing the curriculum and associated syllabi and competencies to create an Associates in Applied Science in Radiography degree. This curriculum should meet the requirements for securing and subsequently maintaining accreditation through the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the New Jersey (NJ) Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners. The Radiography Program Director’s primary role will initially consist of all facets of program development and the achievement of program accreditation, including, but not limited to course and program development, staffing, overseeing the setup of a lab, and establishing an admissions process and criteria. Once the program enrolls students, the Radiography Program Director’s role shifts to attaining educational goals and objectives; managing the day-to‑day operations of the Program; ensuring Program compliance with JRCERT, NJ Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners, and College standards; formulating strategies to enhance student success; supervising and mentoring faculty; developing in‑service programs to enhance faculty and student performance; promoting personal and professional development; providing student guidance and appropriate referrals; and generating periodic assessment reports. Additional duties encompass designing faculty and class schedules; coordinating activities, networking with the community to support the Program; maintaining the laboratory and clinical facilities, assessing Program and student outcomes; developing and implementing strategic plans based upon gathered data; and management of the Program budget.

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months

  • 1. Directs the Radiography Program and assures effective program operations.
  • 2. Obtains and maintains program accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.
  • 3. Participates in budget planning and monitors funds distributed.
  • 4. Participates in didactic and/or clinical instruction; teaches 6 credits per year.
  • 5. Maintains current knowledge of the professional discipline and education methodologies through continuing professional development.
  • 6. Assumes the leadership role in the continued development of the program.
  • 7. Develops, organizes, implements, monitors, and evaluates the Radiography Program and assessment activities.
  • 8. Hires, supervises, and evaluates personnel employed within the Radiography Program.
  • 9. Schedules and oversees clinical experiences.
  • 10. Recruits and corresponds with prospective students.
  • 11. Advises students.
  • 12. Plans and hosts Radiography Advisory Committee Meetings.
  • 13. Performs related duties as assigned.
  • 1. Master’s degree.
  • 2. Proficient in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, program administration, and academic advising.
  • 3. Documented three years’ experience as a radiographer.
  • 4. Documented two years’ experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program.
  • 5. Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • 6. Current valid NJ licensure as a radiology technologist from the New Jersey Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners.
  • 7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 8. Knowledge of the JRCERT and New Jersey(NJ) Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners accreditation standards.
  • 9. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other related technology required of the position such as multimedia computers; the ability to analyze and create detailed documents, reports, charts, and presentations; the ability to learn to utilize additional software, hardware, and video techniques as necessary.
  • 1. Doctoral degree.
  • 2. Experience with achieving initial or re-accreditation status.
  • 3. Experience with learning management systems (LMS).
