Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a PRN Radiographer to perform routine and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures under general supervision.

Requires an associate degree or certificate in radiologic technology, ARRT registry, MD radiographer license, and Basic Life Support certification; no experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Certificate in radiologic technology from an accredited program.
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensed Radiographer - State of MD.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BLS).

Responsibilities

  • Executes general radiology procedures including fluoroscopy.
  • Applies radiology principles, positioning, and radiation safety.
  • Documents patient care activity in electronic health records.
  • Maintains supplies and reports equipment or environmental issues.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement and training.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Summary Under general supervision, performs routine and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

  • Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology including fluoroscopy, in all locations across all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
  • Applies knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, radiographic positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy.
  • Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality. Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Education & Experience - Required

  • Associate degree, or Certificate, in radiologic technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • No Experience Required
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Licensed Radiographer - State of MD
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
