Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a radiologic technologist to perform routine and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures across locations. You will select appropriate technical factors per patient and provide age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities include documenting patient care in EHRs, maintaining a safe environment, managing supplies, and participating in performance improvement initiatives and staff training. ARRT registration and MD licensure, plus BCLS, are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or certificate in radiologic technology from an USDE- or CHEA-accredited program.
  • Experience 2+ years.
  • Licensures/Certifications: ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist; MD state licensure; Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

  • Executes general radiology including fluoroscopy across locations and patient types; selects appropriate technical factors per patient and provides age-appropriate care.
  • Applies radiology principles, anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics; adheres to Joint Commission and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Documents patient care activity in electronic health records systems.
  • Maintains a safe work environment; manages supplies/inventory; notifies when external purchases are needed and reports equipment issues.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and in staff training to enhance workflows and patient experience.

Under general supervision, performs routine and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Key Responsibility 1: Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology including fluoroscopy, in all locations across all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.
  • Key Responsibility 2: Applies knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, radiographic positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Key Responsibility 3: Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Key Responsibility 4: Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy.
  • Key Responsibility 5: Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality. Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree, or Certificate, in radiologic technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
