Job summary

UK King's Daughters in Ashland, KY is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specializing in CT to join our Department: CT Scanner. You will verify orders, prepare patients, operate CT equipment, and optimize imaging protocols.

Ideal candidate has CAHEA radiography education and ARRT CT certification, 0–2 years of experience, and BLS. The role includes radiation protection, patient care, and quality assurance in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAHEA accredited radiography program or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and ARRT CT certification in applicable state.

Responsibilities

• Verifies orders and patient identity prior to examination, obtains and communicates clinical history.
• Operates computed tomographic equipment and selects and edits scanning protocols to optimize diagnostic value.
• Positions patients, accommodates them, and responds to patient distress during scanning.
• Evaluates images for technical quality, uses display parameters, and ensures accurate patient identification on all images and CDs.
• Practices radiation protection principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others.
• Demonstrates competency in venipuncture, selects veins, and administers contrast media as prescribed.
• Performs diagnostic testing and quality assurance on equipment, reports malfunctions, and coordinates service as needed.

• Selects and edits scanning protocols to optimize diagnostic value, positions and accommodates patients, and responds to patient distress.

• Practices radiation protection principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and others.

Education Requirement

Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or equivalent

Experience Requirement

0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
