Beth Israel Lahey Health's Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA is seeking a full-time Radiologic Technologist for night shifts. You will perform diagnostic radiology exams, operate imaging equipment, and ensure radiation safety while delivering compassionate patient care.

This role requires ARRT registration, MA radiography license, two years of Radiologic Technology training, and good interpersonal skills. New grads may have temporary license and ARRT eligibility within a year.

Qualifications

  • Two years of formal Radiologic Technology training.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Licensed in radiography by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • New graduates may have Temp MA Rad Tech License and ARRT eligible within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiology exams including trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, and portable exams.
  • Operate imaging equipment and position patients for optimal images.
  • Apply radiation protection measures to minimize exposure.
  • Evaluate image quality and decide on additional images as needed.
  • Review orders and gather patient history for appropriate exams.
  • Report equipment issues and hazards to the supervisor.
  • Assist in training of student radiographers.
  • Contribute to department efficiency and patient wait time reduction.

Patients’ physical and emotional needs are met compassionately and competently. Patient privacy is protected. An accurate, complete record is produced for each exam.Job Description:Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):1. Performs all aspects of diagnostic radiology including trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, G.U. contrast exams, and operative and portable exams.a. Able to operate imaging equipment and other devices as appropriate.b. Positions patients to obtain anatomic information.c. Calculates exposure factors and collimates correctly to reduce radiation exposure to patients. Practices radiation protection for patients and personnel.d. Evaluates images for technical quality and use sound judgment to take additional images to better demonstrate pathology.e. Evaluates orders for appropriate history and clinical information and seek guidance on the correct exam if questionable.f. Reports all equipment malfunctions and hazards to the appropriate supervisor.2. Interacts professionally and courteously with patients, co-workers, and medical staff. Assists in training of student radiographers.3. Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency.a. Ensures that patient wait times are minimized.b. Spends more than 90% of working time on productive tasks without supervisory prompting.4. Follows Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient.a. Attends yearly "Blood-borne pathogens/OSHA" in service.b. Practices aseptic technique when necessary.5. Produces an accurate RIS and PACS record of each exam.a. Completes all Meditech entries and edits orders to reflect the correct exam.b. Uses appropriate markers.c. Sends complete record to PACS on correct accession number.6. Pursues continuing education by attending department and hospital-wide programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.a. Meets ARRT standards.b. Meets Massachusetts State licensing standards.7. Willingly performs any task for which the employee is competent.Two years of formal Radiologic Technology training.• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.• Licensed in radiography by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.• New graduates may have Temp MA Rad Tech License and ARRT eligible 1 year from graduation.• Good interpersonal skills.Physical Requirements & Environment:1. Requires standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above the head, moving about the department and hospital, and/or lifting more than 75% of the time.2. Exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, chemicals, and hazardous materials 75% of the time.3. Ability to hear the conversation, comprehend and communicate in spoken and written English more than 75% of the time.4. Ability to wear protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, gowns, and lead aprons.5. Ability to work and move about in confined spaces.Pay Range:$36.00 – $53.49The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
