Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a radiologic technologist to perform a full range of diagnostic imaging, ensuring safety and quality. You will position patients, adjust exposures, and document exams in RIS/PACS while upholding ARRT standards and MA licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Two years of formal Radiologic Technology training.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

• Temp MA Rad Tech License possible for new graduates within 1 year of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Performs all diagnostic radiology exams including trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, and portable exams.
• Operates imaging equipment and other devices as appropriate.
• Positions patients to obtain anatomical information.
• Calculates exposure factors and applies radiation protection measures.
• Evaluates images for technical quality and requests additional views if needed.
• Reviews orders and ensures proper exam history and information.
• Maintains records in RIS and PACS and completes Meditech entries.
• Participates in training of student radiographers and supports department efficiency.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Performs all aspects of diagnostic radiology including trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, G.U. contrast exams, and operative and portable exams.
• Able to operate imaging equipment and other devices as appropriate.
• Positions patients to obtain anatomic information.
• Calculates exposure factors and collimates correctly to reduce radiation exposure to patients. Practices radiation protection for patients and personnel.
• Evaluates images for technical quality and use sound judgment to take additional images to better demonstrate pathology.
• Evaluates orders for appropriate history and clinical information and seek guidance on the correct exam if questionable.
• Reports all equipment malfunctions and hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
• Interacts professionally and courteously with patients, co-workers, and medical staff. Assists in training of student radiographers.
• Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency.
• Ensures that patient wait times are minimized.
• Spends more than 90% of working time on productive tasks without supervisory prompting.
• Follows Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient.
• Attends yearly "Blood-borne pathogens/OSHA" in service.
• Practices aseptic technique when necessary.
• Produces an accurate RIS and PACS record of each exam.
• Completes all Meditech entries and edits orders to reflect the correct exam.
• Uses appropriate markers.
• Sends complete record to PACS on correct accession number.
• Pursues continuing education by attending department and hospital-wide programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.
• Meets ARRT standards.
• Meets Massachusetts State licensing standards.
• Willingly performs any task for which the employee is competent.

Two years of formal Radiologic Technology training.

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Licensed in radiography by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• New graduates may have Temp MA Rad Tech License and ARRT eligible 1 year from graduation.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements & Environment

• Requires standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above the head, moving about the department and hospital, and/or lifting more than 75% of the time.
• Exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, chemicals, and hazardous materials 75% of the time.
• Ability to hear the conversation, comprehend and communicate in spoken and written English more than 75% of the time.
• Ability to wear protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, gowns, and lead aprons.
• Ability to work and move about in confined spaces.

Pay Range

$36.00 - $53.49

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
