Job summary

City of Fort Wayne is seeking a Radio Repair & Programming Technician to program, repair, and maintain radio equipment across departments. The role involves troubleshooting, reading schematics, and ensuring reliable radio communications for city services.

The position requires experience with portable/mobile two-way radio systems, AC/DC electronics, and the ability to travel to remote locations for updates. A valid Indiana driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Three years related experience and/or training in portable/mobile two-way radio.
• Basic knowledge of AC/DC electronics and two-way radio maintenance and programming.
• Knowledge and experience in programming conventional and trunked radios.

Responsibilities

• Program, repair, and maintain all radio related equipment for the City of Fort Wayne.
• Read and interpret electronics schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
• Setup and maintain radio access records and troubleshoot subscriber/system issues.
• Travel to other departments/locations for programming/updating radios.
• May remove/install mobile radios in vehicles and maintain paging equipment including 911 paging database.
