Are you an RF or microwave design engineer looking for a role where you own products from concept through to production, with the opportunity to grow in a team that supports engineers at every stage of their career?
A well-established manufacturer of high-reliability RF and microwave products is seeking an RF Design Engineer to join its engineering team on a permanent, full-time, on-site basis in Orlando, Florida. The company supplies mission-critical applications across aerospace, defence, space, avionics, and communications. This role is responsible for the design and development of RF and microwave products, working in a fast-paced team environment to deliver new designs to customers on time, to specification, and in a form that transitions profitably into production.
The business is open to candidates at multiple levels of experience, from developing engineers to seasoned senior designers. The scope and level of responsibility will be shaped around the successful candidate's background.
Here’s what’s in it for you:
- Genuine technical ownership, with the opportunity to take designs from initial requirements and costing through to prototype, test, and production transition
- Exposure to demanding applications across radar, avionics, military communications, and satellite systems
- A role with room to grow, whether that means deepening your technical specialism, leading projects, or mentoring others as your experience develops
Responsibilities:
- Designing, simulating, and prototyping new RF and microwave products using industry-standard synthesis, simulation, and electromagnetic analysis tools
- Analysing electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory requirements to assess compliance for new products being quoted
- Contributing to cost and lead time estimates covering material, labour, test, and development
- Taking design and development work through to completion in line with the company's documented design process
- Optimising designs for performance, lead time, and cost
- Supporting assemblers and engineering technicians during prototype build and optimisation
- Working with Manufacturing Engineering and Purchasing to support new processes and ensure prototype materials arrive on time
- Participating in project kick-offs, design reviews, and pre-ship reviews, and providing regular progress updates
- Supporting the transition of new products into production, and supporting mature products that need design work for obsolescence, quality, or reliability issues
- Staying current with technology and industry trends and contributing ideas for new products
Skills/Must Have:
- Experience in RF and microwave design, with the depth expected at the level you are applying for
- Working knowledge of RF and microwave synthesis and simulation software
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced engineering and production environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work with ITAR-controlled data without a licence
Nice to Have:
- Strong CAD skills with electromagnetic analysis tools
- Understanding of radio architecture, avionics and military communication systems, and radar systems
- Experience in telecommunications, military, or avionics applications
- Experience with high-power designs or miniaturisation
- Project management experience and experience mentoring or training less experienced engineers (expected at senior level)
- Permanent, full-time position within a high-reliability RF and microwave manufacturer
- Open to candidates at multiple levels, with scope and responsibility matched to your background
- Work across aerospace, defence, space, avionics, and communications applications
- On-site role combining design, prototype, and manufacturing environments in Orlando, Florida
