Qualifications

• Must-Have: Bachelor's degree in radiological technology or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience required.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Administers ionizing irradiation to patients per prescriptions and instructions from department physicians.
• Delivers the prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescriptions, diagnosis charts, and patient identification.
• Explains procedures to patients, means of communication during treatment, and basic treatment procedure.
• Delivers prescribed daily doses to patients, observing radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
• Prepares rooms and equipment for patients according to prescriptions or simulations regarding immobilization devices.
• Transfers patients to treatment couches, giving attention to the special needs of the patients.
• Observes patients for unusual reactions and signs of developing complications during treatment.
• Reports reactions and complications to the supervisor and department physician.
• Maintains a variety of records, including records of daily treatments.
