Job summary

The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center has an opportunity for a Radiation Oncology Manager in Fairfield.

You will oversee day-to-day department operations, supervise an interdisciplinary team, and drive high-quality, cost-effective care aligned with the hospital and cancer institute goals. Qualified candidates bring 5+ years in Radiation Oncology with supervisory experience, a CT radiographer license, and ARRT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare management or related field.
• Five (5) years clinical experience in Radiation Oncology.
• Five (5) years supervisory/management experience.
• Valid Connecticut State Radiographer’s License; ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy.
• Experience with specialized radiation therapy systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operations of the Radiation Oncology department.
• Directs scheduling and assignment of work; resolves processing issues; collects data to monitor progress.
• Supports change and implements new opportunities and innovations.
• Leads Lean Daily Management and aligns goals with organizational strategy.
• Executes performance expectations and provides coaching and evaluations to staff.

The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center has been designated as the first Care Partner of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in the United States. Hartford HealthCare opened a new state-of-the-art cancer center at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike near the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield in April 2025. The 25,000-square-foot facility offers chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, surgical consultations, imaging and laboratory testing on site

The Radiation Oncology Manager is responsible for managing day to day operations of the Radiation Oncology department. Oversees a collaborative interdisciplinary team, consisting of Radiation Therapists, Nurses and Administrative staff to ensure a high quality, cost-effective service is delivered in support of the hospital’s and Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute strategic plan, functional goals and objectives.

• Provides direction and oversight of the department modeling effective, efficient operations, including supervising the scheduling and assignment of work, assisting with resolving processing problems, and collecting data to monitor progress.
• Supports and models change recommending and implementing new opportunities and innovation.
• Supports and assists the staff and director in Lean Daily Management
• Implements and monitors departmental goals and objectives that align with the strategic direction of the organization including the hospital and the cancer institute and attains set goals and objectives within the specified time frames.
• Implements individual performance expectations; coaches, develops, and provides input to performance evaluations to enable employees to be successful in contributing to the achievement of individual and work group objectives

Education:

• Bachelor’s degreein healthcare management of related field

Experience:

• Five (5) years clinical experience in Radiation Oncology
• Five (5) years supervisory/management experience

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

• Valid Connecticut State Radiographer’s License.
• ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

• Experience with GE CT Sim, Varian Novalis Tx, Varian True Beam, Nucletron HDR. & Varian Ethos with adaptive planning strongly preferred.
