Radiation Therapy Assistant

Overview

The Radiation Oncology department provides advanced cancer treatment using precise radiation therapy techniques to improve patient outcomes. Our team works collaboratively to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care for every patient throughout their treatment journey.

Role Summary

The Radiation Therapy Assistant supports clinical operations by assisting with patient care and logistical coordination in radiation therapy. This role enhances efficiency, accuracy, and the overall patient experience through direct interaction and support of clinical staff.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule patients for treatment machines as prescribed by physicians.
  • Ensure proper time slots and accurate charges for treatment types.
  • Coordinate with radiation therapists to confirm scheduling and patient notifications.
  • Address and resolve patient scheduling concerns.
  • Assist in waiting areas, provide directions, and complete rounding reports.
  • Escort patients to designated areas and assist with treatment room preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and inventory of treatment areas and equipment.
  • Contact new start patients for special instructions prior to treatment.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and coordinate inpatient transportation.
  • Relay treatment delays to patients in waiting areas.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare or patient care setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience in radiation oncology or related clinical environments is preferred.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, daytime hours, with occasional flexibility based on departmental needs.

Salary

Hourly breakdown: Minimum $18.26 – Midpoint $22.83 – Maximum $27.40
