Job summary

OhioHealth seeks a Radiation Therapy Technologist to diligently deliver prescribed treatments and prepare patients for simulation, dose calculations, and parameter acquisition. The role prioritizes safety, quality, and collaboration within Radiation Oncology.

The candidate will administer daily treatments, maintain records, assist with brachytherapy, and participate in QA activities and tumor boards, while delivering compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Active licensure to practice in Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Administers radiation therapy treatments daily as prescribed.
  • Maintains daily treatment records, dosages, and calculations.
  • Performs simulations, captures parameters, and dose calculations.
  • On-call weekends/holidays may be required for 80-hour schedules.
  • Maintains patient schedules and communicates with families and staff.
  • Monitors patient condition and progress daily.
  • Assists with brachytherapy and oversees students as needed.
  • Participates in QA activities, tumor board, and safety goals.

Job Description Summary

Delivers radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Prepares patients for a course of Radiation Therapy inclusive of simulation, dose calculations and acquiring of treatment parameters.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • 35% Administers Radiation Therapy treatments on a daily basis.
  • 20% Maintains daily record of treatment, inclusive of daily dosages and calculations and other necessary treatment records.
  • 5% Performs simulations, acquires treatment parameters, patient contours and dose calculations.
  • 10% Therapists who are scheduled to work 80 hours per pay, may be required to be on-call for weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • 10% Maintains patient schedules for In-Patients and Out-Patients communicates frequently with families and hospital personnel to maintain schedule coordination and accommodate patients as best as possible.
  • 10% Monitors patient Condition and progress on a daily basis. i.e., patient weighs, skin care, reaction, etc. .
  • 5% Assists Radiation Oncologist in performance of Brachytherapy procedures. Oversees and directs clinical activities of Radiation Therapy Technology students. Provides clinical insight to Radiologic Technology students, nursing students, etc. as needed.
  • 5% Participates in Department Clinical QA activities, new patient conference, tumor board and QRM. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
