The role requires ARRT certification, Ohio licensure, CPR, and 1–2 years of experience. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for this full-time position based on a Monday–Friday

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in radiography with certification in radiation therapy and ARRT registration.
  • State of Ohio Radiation Therapist license and CPR certification.
  • 1–2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and make independent decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments following established protocols.
  • Obtain patient history, answer questions, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Observe patients for unusual reactions and respond appropriately.
  • Schedule treatments and coordinate with physicists and supportive care providers.
  • Verify patient identity, prescription details, and treatment plans before each session.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment and assist in patient positioning.
  • Provide education on treatment side effects and care of irradiated areas.
  • Perform verification imaging and adjust treatment as directed by physicians.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluation results and plans.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development.
  • Adhere to safety, quality standards and departmental policies.

Job description

Job Summary

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients according to physician orders and established standards. This role involves patient care, treatment planning, and operation of radiation therapy equipment while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. The therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to provide compassionate and effective cancer care.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments using specialized equipment following established protocols.
  • Obtain patient history, answer questions, and explain procedures to patients.
  • Observe patients for unusual reactions during treatment and respond appropriately.
  • Schedule patient treatments and coordinate with physicists and supportive care providers.
  • Verify patient identity, prescription details, and treatment plans before each session.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment, and assist in patient positioning, including transferring immobilized patients.
  • Provide patient education on treatment side effects and care of irradiated areas as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Perform verification imaging and make corrections to treatment as directed by physicians.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including evaluation results, treatment plans, and progress reports.
  • Participate in continuing education, in-service meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to departmental policies, safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • Associate's degree in radiography with certification in radiation therapy; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
  • State of Ohio Radiation Therapist license.
  • CPR certification.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and make independent decisions.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in radiation therapy.
  • Experience with Truebeam/Aria radiation therapy systems.
  • Ohio Department of Health License preferred upon submission.

  • Work involves medium physical demand, including lifting and transferring patients up to 20-50 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires adherence to safety, infection control, and environmental standards specific to radiation therapy.

Scheduling
  • Full-time position with Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • No weekends or on-call duties required.
