Description

Christie Clinic's department of Radiation-Oncology is looking for a part-time (20 hours/week and benefit-eligible) registered/licensed Radiation Therapist. The position requires availability between Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.

Duties include the delivery of therapeutic doses of radiation to treat cancer patients as directed by the Radiation Oncologist. The department is very patient-focused and utilizes Varian equipment including a True Beam, Eclipse, and ARIA software.

The candidate should be registered with the ARRT and licensed by IEMA.

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Deliver planned course of radiation, independently.
  • Verify patient treatment prescription, diagnosis, and chart information.
  • Monitor patients receiving radiation.
  • Prepare room and equipment for patient. Oversee equipment and accessories for proper operation.
  • Maintain patient markings. Observe patient adverse reactions and report information and findings to the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Maintain quality control procedures for equipment. Report poor or inaccurate operation of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean environment for patients.
  • Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
  • Assist in tumor localization procedures, prepare immobilization devices, perform simulations, etc.
  • Assist in dosimetry procedures.
  • Perform and document daily accelerator warm-up and QA procedures.
  • Perform mold room duties.
  • Maintain record of daily treatment and other records, as required by department quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Perform patient billing as needed.
  • Complete HealthCare Estimates (HCE’s) for insurance authorizations. Assist in obtaining authorizations from insurance companies. Document approval in the EMR.
  • Perform related work as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist Certificate or 4-year degree through a Radiation Therapy Baccalaureate program
  • Maintain accreditation through ARRT
  • Maintain licensure through IEMA and Department of Nuclear Safety

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting patients. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20, and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids, and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
