Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Radiation Therapist I at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland, OH. The role involves delivering prescribed radiation therapy, working with oncologists and dosimetrists, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during treatment.

Minimum qualifications include CAHEA-approved education or ARRT registry eligibility, ARRT certification, state licensure, and BLS. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication and technical skills and is able to work a day shift.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAHEA-approved Radiation Therapy program or registry eligible.
• ARRT-RT certification or registry-eligible status with active credentials.
• Current state licensure as a Radiation Therapist required.
• CPR/BLS certification for healthcare providers is required.
• Experience with radiation oncology EMR and record/verify workflows.

Responsibilities

• Determine and deliver treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists.
• Monitor patient condition and document any adverse reactions.
• Educate patients according to department protocols and procedures.
• Position patients and set accurate anatomical/technical parameters.
• Inspect and adjust equipment, including linear accelerators, as needed.

Radiation Therapists implement plans of treatment, prescribed by an oncologist and created by a medical dosimetrist, and use accelerators andionizing radiation-producing equipment to treat diseases, primarilydifferent kindsof cancer. The radiation is administered in therapeutic doses and can send certain localized forms of cancer into remission. It can also be used to prevent the recurrence of particularly malignant forms of canceraftersurgery.

A caregiver in this positionworksdays,8:00am—4:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Determineand deliverappropriate patienttreatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists.

• Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols.
• Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately.
• Check and adjustnecessaryequipment, including linearaccelerators.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible
• Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in goodstanding
• Current state licensure as a RadiationTherapist
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross
• Experience with radiation oncology specific electronic medical records as well as record and verify
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrates problem-solving skills
• Can communicate and relate well with patients who are under physical and emotional stress
• Canutilizecomputer programs to input database and capture information

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Experience with external radiation therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT simulation

Physical Requirements:

• Requires ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting.
• Requires ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
• Requires ability to push/pull over 100 lbs.
• Requires dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
• Requires Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment.
• Requires ability to work the hours of operation - flexible.
• Requires ability to take “call” on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule.
• Requires ability to float to other CCHS facilities when needed.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
