The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes, following prescriptions from the Radiation Oncologist.
Interpret and implement treatment plans, perform patient simulation and prepare immobilization devices, assess equipment, and ensure quality assurance. They provide basic patient care, educate patients, monitor treatment progress, and document procedures accurately.
Must hold a Radiation Therapy certification from the ARRT, a valid radiology tech license if applicable, and BLS certification. Preferred candidates have a bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy. Essential skills include clinical processes, patient care, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, empathy, flexibility, and collaboration.
Ability to see, read, lift, move patients and supplies, and operate equipment safely. Must be able to stand for extended periods and navigate busy clinical environments.
