WellSpan Health's Chambersburg Hospital seeks a Radiation Therapist to deliver prescribed radiation therapy under physician direction, and to assist with CT-simulation procedures within the Oncology Service Line. The position is full-time, day shift (80 hours biweekly), Monday–Friday with potential overtime and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited program.
• ARRT certification and BLS certification required/within specified timelines.
• Ability to perform radiation therapy and CT-simulation procedures with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Delivers prescribed and planned radiation therapy; gathers history and informs patient.
• Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, and patient identification.
• Prepares room and equipment; reinforces care instructions to patients.
• Observes patient for adverse reactions and documents in the EHR.
• Performs IGRT localization and assists with simulation procedures.

Full Time, Day Shift (80 Hours Biweekly)

Hours: Monday - Friday, Possible 6:00am - 4:00 pm (Varies to include possible overtime when dictated by patient load)

Rotation: On call

General Summary

Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established Wellspan Oncology Servile Line standards and practices at a beginning or intermediate specialist skills level. Assists with CT-simulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures as required.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedure.
• Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
• Prepares room and equipment for patient.
• Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, nurses, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
• Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
• Performs IGRT tumor localization procedures.
• Prepares patient and equipment for, and performs simulation procedures.

• Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased patient safety. Participates in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
• Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Completes annual required LMS training as assigned.
• Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Maintains current ARRT certification.
• Maintains appropriate documentation in the EHR as required by the profession and Wellspan Oncology Service Line.
• Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
• Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
• Aids in the training of radiation therapy students.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

• Associates Degree Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program Required

Work Experience

• Less than 1 year Relevant experience. Required

Licenses

• Registered Technologist-Radiation Therapy - ARRT within 180 days Required and
• Basic Life Support within 180 days Required

Courses And Training

• Appropriate training in radiation therapy. Upon Hire Required
