Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff seeks a Radiation Therapist to administer prescribed radiation treatments at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. You will operate linear accelerators, CT simulators, and dosimetry systems under the Radiation Oncologist's direction.

The role requires ARRT certification and ARRT registration, CPR BLS, and at least 3 years of experience, with a focus on safety and high-quality patient care in a world-class academic medical center.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification and active ARRT registration required.
  • CPR BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Radiation Therapist.
  • Working knowledge of all radiology equipment including linear accelerators and CT simulators.
  • Experience with dosimetry and treatment verification systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed radiation therapy exactly per physician orders.
  • Verify patient identity and treatment plan prior to sessions.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patient positioning for accuracy.
  • Operate and maintain linear accelerators and CT simulators.
  • Perform dosimetry tasks and treatment verification.
  • Monitor patients during treatment and address clinical changes.
  • Educate patients on procedures and potential side effects.
  • Document treatment delivery and maintain records.
  • Adhere to radiation safety and infection control standards.

Position Summary:

The Radiation Therapist administers prescribed radiation treatments under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and the supervision of department leadership. Responsibilities include operating radiation oncology equipment, including CT simulators, linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and quality assurance devices, while ensuring safe and effective patient care.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Responsibilities
  • Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Verify patient identity and treatment plans prior to each treatment session.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and patient positioning to ensure precise treatment delivery.
  • Operate and maintain radiation oncology equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, dosimetry, and treatment verification systems.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and respond appropriately to clinical changes or emergencies.
  • Educate patients on treatment procedures and reinforce guidance regarding potential side effects.
  • Administer contrast media and assist with simulation and treatment planning procedures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate treatment documentation, billing records, and quality assurance data.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report operational concerns to leadership.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and comfort.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support department needs, including schedule adjustments, weekends, holidays, and emergency treatments as required.
Qualifications
  • ARRT certification required
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • CPR BLS certification required
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist in a relevant setting
  • Working knowledge of all radiological equipment in the Radiation Oncology Department. Functional knowledge of, linear accelerators, CT simulator, computer equipment, printers, various radiation dosimeters, diode system, automatic film processors.
