Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed courses of radiation therapy with precision.
  • Position patients and operate radiation equipment.
  • Perform daily QA checks and monitor patients during treatment.
  • Document treatment parameters with dosimetrist/physicist and ensure proper electronic documentation.
  • Communicate with patients and families about the treatment process.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for accurately delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring clinical precision and patient comfort.

Every day you will meticulously position patients, operate sophisticated radiation equipment, perform daily quality assurance checks, and carefully monitor patients throughout treatment, providing support and clear communication.

To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and compassionate patient care, crucial for safe and effective cancer treatment.

Job Tasks
  • Radiation therapist assists with patient procedures involving patient simulation.
  • Varian Trilogy linear accelerator radiation therapy, and other radiation therapy equipment as needed.
  • Computer interactions via ARIA electronic oncology information management system.
  • Greets patients, verifies patient identification, electronic chart for proper radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions; Provides patients, family and/or caregivers information related to the treatment process; engages in discussion and answers questions regarding process, equipment used and explains the daily visit routine to ensure understanding of how their care will be delivered during the course of radiation therapy.
  • Prepares patient for treatment by assisting in dressing properly and directing/transporting patient to treatment room; Positions patient and equipment in accordance with treatment plan; Produces digital or film portal images and kV cone beam (CT‑like) images when appropriate to ensure accurate patient position and treatment.
  • Programs equipment to deliver treatment as prescribed by physician; Works with dosimetrist and/or physicist as well as administration to assure correct electronic documentation of treatment.

  • Technical School Graduate of accredited school of radiation therapy
  • Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy
  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist: CA
  • Current BLS through American Heart Association (AHA BLS)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years recent radiation therapy experience
  • Experience using ARIA or IMPAC, Varian and CT simulation equipment
  • HDR brachytherapy experience
