Job summary

CommonPhysicianHealth? Radiation Therapist role at Dignity Health – Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. You will deliver prescribed radiation therapy, position patients, operate advanced equipment and monitor patients for safe, effective treatment.

Qualifications

  • Technical School Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy.
  • Registered Technologist in Radiation Therapy.
  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist: CA.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA BLS).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient procedures involving patient simulation.
  • Operate the Varian Trilogy linear accelerator and other radiation therapy equipment as needed.
  • Interact with the ARIA electronic oncology information management system.
  • Greet patients, verify patient identification, and use electronic charts to confirm radiation treatment parameters and physician prescriptions. Provide patients, family, and/or caregivers with information related to the treatment process; engage in discussion and answer questions regarding equipment and the daily visit routine to ensure understanding of the care provided throughout the course of radiation therapy.
  • Prepare patients for treatment by assisting in dressing and directing/transporting them to the treatment room. Position patients and equipment in accordance with the treatment plan. Produce digital or film portal images and kV cone beam (CT‑like) images when appropriate to ensure accurate patient positioning and treatment.
  • Program equipment to deliver treatment as prescribed by the physician. Work with the dosimetrist and/or physicist and administration to assure correct electronic documentation of treatment.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for accurately delivering prescribed courses of radiation therapy to cancer patients, ensuring clinical precision and patient comfort. Every day you will meticulously position patients, operate sophisticated radiation equipment, perform daily quality assurance checks, and carefully monitor patients throughout treatment, providing support and clear communication. To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and compassionate patient care, crucial for safe and effective cancer treatment.

Job Requirements
  • Technical School Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy.
  • Registered Technologist in Radiation Therapy.
  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist: CA.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA BLS).
Preferred
  • Two (2) years of recent radiation therapy experience.
  • Experience using ARIA or IMPAC, Varian and CT simulation equipment.
  • HDR brachytherapy experience.

Pay Range

$65.57 – $77.24 /hour
