Job summary

UT Health Athens is seeking a Radiation Therapist for a day shift, PRN position in Athens, TX. You will deliver prescribed radiation therapy, perform QA checks, fabricate shielding, and support patients and families throughout treatment.

The role includes supervising student rotations, performing manual calculations, and collaborating with the physics team. Requires graduation from an approved program and ARRT Radiation Therapy certification with Texas licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of radiation therapy technology or a school of radiologic technology and a one year radiation therapy program.
• Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy and licensed by the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by the physics department.
• Perform manual calculations.
• Fabricate custom shielding blocks.
• Perform QA checks and warm-up Linear Accelerators.
• Maintain constant communication with patients and family members to lend support and provide information concerning treatment.
• Responsible for supervising all phases of student clinical rotations.

• UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level IV stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.
