We are currently seeking a Radiation Survivability Subject Matter Expert.

The selected candidate will provide expert technical and programmatic guidance to the Government team responsible for ensuring the survivability of critical components and systems. This support will be provided by a Subject Matter Expert (SME) demonstrated experience in radiation effects, nuclear survivability, and strategic weapon systems engineering. The SME will act as a mentor and advisor, particularly supporting the team lead, to ensure the successful execution of survivability-related tasks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical guidance on all aspects of radiation effects, including Total Ionizing Dose (TID), Displacement Damage Dose (DDD), Single Event Effects (SEE), System-Generated Electromagnetic Pulse (SGEMP), High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP), and Thermomechanical Shock (TMS).
• Advise on appropriate analysis techniques and modeling methodologies for assessing system vulnerability to these effects, including the use of industry-standard tools.
• Provide expert guidance on the selection and implementation of radiation hardening techniques to mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
• Advise on test planning and execution to validate the effectiveness of hardening measures.
• Share best practices and lessons learned from previous experience in strategic weapon systems development and survivability enhancement.
• Advise on integrating survivability requirements into the system design and development lifecycle.
• Keep abreast of emerging threats and technologies related to nuclear survivability and advise the Government team on potential impacts.
• Provide expert programmatic guidance on all aspects of nuclear survivability
• Advise on the development and execution of survivability-related plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Provide guidance on the identification and management of risks associated with nuclear survivability.
• Assist the Government team in communicating survivability-related information to stakeholders, including senior leadership and other program offices.
• Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among different teams and organizations involved in nuclear survivability efforts.
• Provide insights into the program management and technical execution in general.
• Attend relevant program meetings, technical interchange meetings, and stakeholder meetings related to nuclear survivability
• Provide expert guidance and insights during these meetings to support the Government team's decision-making process.
• Share relevant knowledge and experience to inform discussions and promote effective collaboration.
• Act as a trusted advisor and sounding board for the team lead, providing counsel on challenging issues and decisions.
• Share lessons learned and best practices from previous leadership experiences.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or Physics and at least 15 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance. This position will require an interim Secret Clearance prior to starting. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
• Ability to travel, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Atmospheric and Space Sciences
• Minimum of 20 years of demonstrated experience in radiation effects, nuclear survivability, and strategic weapon systems engineering.
• Proven ability to provide technical and programmatic guidance to Government teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in mentoring and developing junior personnel.
• Knowledge of relevant DOW regulations, policies, and standards related to nuclear survivability.

Compensation Details

$130,000 - $210,000 annually

The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
