Job summary

General Matter seeks an experienced Radiation Safety Officer to lead radiation protection for UF6 operations in the United States. The role ensures safety for workers and the public and maintains compliance with NRC, DOE, and other regulations as we scale enrichment activities.

You will build end-to-end protection programs, advise on radiological issues across the organization, and develop a team capable of growing with expanding operations in a fast-paced environment, including potential

Qualifications

• BS/BA or higher in science/engineering or health physics.
• 8+ years in radiation protection or health physics.
• Experience as RSO/Protection Program Manager at NRC-licensed or DOE facilities.
• NRRPT or CHP certifications.
• UF6/UO2 processing or similar regulated materials experience.
• Ability to interpret NRC/DOE rules and translate into procedures.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement the radiation protection program for UF6 handling.
• Ensure NRC/DOE compliance and radiation safety standards.
• Administer ALARA, dosimetry, monitoring and controls.
• Evaluate instrumentation and monitoring systems for compliance.
• Serve as site radiation safety authority advising operations and leadership.
• Maintain familiarity with facility operations to address concerns.
• Support licensing and regulatory interactions.
• Develop and deliver radiological protection training.
• Build and lead the radiation protection team as operations grow.
