Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Radiation Safety Associate to support the radiation safety program across university and hospital facilities. The role involves developing policies, coordinating safety procedures, and ensuring regulatory compliance with NRC and WV Radiological Health Programs.

The position includes 24/7 on-call duties and collaboration with multiple departments. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in health physics or related field and 2+ years in radiation

Qualifications

• Knowledge of radiation protection, health effects, and radiation detection.
• Strong ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
• Experience in managing Radiation Safety/Health Physics programs.
• Ability to develop and implement SOPs and audits.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director with implementing radiation safety initiatives.
• Maintain occupational radiation exposure records and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and present radiation safety training for staff.
• Perform routine inspections and respond to radiation safety incidents.
• Coordinate waste management and shielding assessments.
