Job summary

VCA Dallas Animal Specialty Hospital is seeking a dedicated veterinary technician to join our Radiation Oncology team full time. The role includes anesthesia monitoring, CT simulations, and assisting with radiation therapy treatments for oncology patients.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of veterinary experience, strong client communication skills, and the ability to work well independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of veterinary technician/assistant experience.
• LVT preferred, not required.
• Safe restraint of cats and dogs.
• Critical thinking and detail oriented.
• Anesthesia monitoring.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong desire to provide exceptional client experience.
• Multitask and handle stressful situations.
• Work well independently and as part of a team.
• Motivated, enthusiastic and self-starting attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
• Monitor and induce anesthesia during radiation therapy sessions and provide post-treatment care.
• Discharge Oncology patients with basic client education.
• Admit Oncology patients and obtain thorough histories including medications and dosages.
• Assist with procedures outside radiation administration (e.g., CT simulations).
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of treatments.
• Collaborate with team members across hospital services.
• Celebrate when patients finish their radiation therapy and provide compassionate care.
