Job summary

NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD invites an experienced registered nurse to join our radiation oncology team on a 13-week contract, full-time days.

The role includes patient intake, IV starts, medication administration, and coordinating with the oncology team, with a 40-hour week and a 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule. Active RN license, NCLEX, and at least two years of oncology or ambulatory care experience required.

Qualifications

• Active, valid RN license in the U.S.
• Associate degree, nursing diploma, or BSN
• NCLEX-RN completion
• Minimum 2 years in radiation oncology or ambulatory care
• BLS certification
• English communication skills
• Computer literacy and documentation in EHR

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after radiation oncology visits
• Patient intake, medication reconciliation, symptom screening
• Start IVs, collect blood, access ports within scope
• Administer medications and fluids as ordered
• Monitor for side effects and changes in condition
• Coordinate care with oncology team
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans
• Maintain confidential clinical documentation
• Adhere to NIH protocols and safety requirements
• Participate in orientation and competency activities
