Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncology physicist to join our team in Peoria, Illinois. The role provides medical physics support for EBRT, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT, collaborating with physicians, dosimetrists, and therapists to optimize treatment planning and delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, ABR certification, and state licensure, with preferred clinical physics experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics or a related field.
• ABR Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics is required.
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiation Therapy (IEMA) is required.
• Experience in medical physics or related clinical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive medical physics support for external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• Supports a highly collaborative, physician-partnered practice environment.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements including IEMA, NRC, ACR, and DNV.
• Oversees equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, calibration, and ongoing QA.
• Develops, implements, and maintains departmental physics policies, procedures, and QA programs.
• Serves as Department Radiation Safety Officer and leads radiation safety initiatives.
