Scope of Job

The UTRGV SOM is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible physician in Radiation Oncology to provide both clinical (non‑teaching) and academic radiation services.

• Provide outpatient radiation services and may include in‑patient consultation.
• Teach residents and medical students in the outpatient clinical setting and in the classroom.
• Participate in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives, and serve on administrative and program committees.
• Prepare and present program didactics, grand rounds, and assist with undergraduate medical education at the Chair’s discretion.
• Develop a robust clinical/translational research program that advances the therapeutic paradigm.

Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Radiation Oncology.
• Licensed in the State of Texas.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of an ACGME‑accredited residency training program in Radiation Oncology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Regional or emerging reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher.

Salary

Salary commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. The position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and is subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. The position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
