Job summary

Sarah Cannon Network is seeking a Radiation Oncology Nurse PRN to provide direct patient care and education throughout the radiation journey at TriStar Centennial Medical Center. The nurse will implement care plans, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure timely communication of patient status and discharge needs.

The ideal candidate holds RN licensure with BLS; ACLS is preferred, and oncology certifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS preferred.
• TN RN licensure or compact state licensure required.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; critical care experience preferred.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or BMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the patient throughout their radiation treatment journey and educate on potential side effects and care management.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Schedule diagnostic and/or radiation treatment planning exams.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as the primary coordinator of the multidisciplinary team to ensure well-coordinated patient care.
• Implement and document physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the multidisciplinary team.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

• Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice.
• Maintains a safe therapeutic environment.
• Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient.
• Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
• Anticipates in performance improvement activities.
• Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.
• When acting inchargenurserole, registered nursesare responsible forday-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment.
• Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff.
• Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.

What you will do in this role:
