Job summary

UHA University Health Associates in Wheeling, WV is seeking a Medical Physicist to join the Radiation Oncology team, focusing on treatment planning, quality control, and clinical support. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Medical Physics, ABR certification (or board eligible with certification within 3 years), and 2+ years of clinical or residency experience in medical physics.

Travel and cross-disciplinary collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Medical Physics or related field.
• Board certification by ABR, ABMP, or equivalent; if board eligible, must be certified within 3 years from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• The design, optimization, evaluation, and delivery of treatment plans.
• Maintain QC of measurement instruments used to calibrate treatment equipment and patient monitoring devices.
• Participate in specification, acceptance, and commissioning of radiation therapy equipment and planning systems.
• Provide clinical support including patient-specific dose measurements and use of MLCs in various external beam techniques.
• Maintain QM program aspects related to external beam radiotherapy equipment.
• Develop, implement, supervise, and review radiation therapy policies and procedures.
• Verify equipment meets manufacturer specs and establish baseline performance values.
• Review patient treatment plans weekly for prescription fulfillment and dose consistency.
• Weekly review of patient records for calculation accuracy and charting.
• End-of-treatment review of the patient record to confirm prescription fulfillment.
• Perform specialized medical physics consults as ordered by radiation oncologists.
