Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years radiation oncology experience preferred.
  • Two years supervisory experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Financial management and personnel skills necessary.
  • General knowledge of all Radiation Oncology departmental activities and ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • General knowledge of computers for spreadsheet computations and word processing.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate all activities of the Radiation Oncology Department.
  • Develop and manage capital and operating budgets; review monthly financials.
  • Review billing and coding for accuracy.
  • Develop and implement department policies, procedures and job descriptions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and licensing standards.
  • Schedule staff and approve PDO requests; supervise staff performance and coaching.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to ensure high quality outcomes and policy adherence.
  • Maintain a positive, ethical working environment within the department.

General Summary

  • The Manager of Radiation Oncology directs and coordinates all activities of the Radiation Oncology Department. He/she is responsible for competencies and licensure of all departmental personnel, develops budgets, orders supplies, reviews billing and coding for accuracy, general policy development and review, and compliance with accrediting agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the development and implementation of capital and operational budgets. Reviews monthly financial statements and works collaboratively with the DDCI Director to ensure financial efficiency.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of quality improvement plans to ensure high quality outcomes and to remain complaint with all policies and regulations.

  • Manages the department’s human resources (including students) effectively by recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff, determining the qualifications and competence of departmental personnel, coordinating appropriate orientation and education of staff. Responsible for annual employee evaluations and any necessary coaching/mentoring within the department.

  • Schedules staff, monitors attendance, and approves PDO requests.

  • Ensures the department meets or exceeds all regulatory, accrediting body, and state licensing standards.

  • Develops and implements department policies, procedures and job descriptions. Identifies and initiates strategies for process improvement within the department(s).

  • Carries out duties in a consistent legal and ethical framework as defined be the Corporate Compliance guidelines, mission and strategic plan, as well as federal, state and local laws. Ensures that department personnel adhere to all guidelines and regulations.

  • Demonstrates a positive and helpful attitude with customers and co-workers, being a compete member of the Radiation Oncology team, assisting co-workers and contributing to the efficient operation of the department.


Education

  • Bachelor degree in a related field required. Master's degree (MBS, MHA) preferred

Work Experience


  • Three years radiation oncology experience preferred

  • 2 years in a supervisory role required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Financial management and personnel skills necessary.

  • General knowledge of all Radiation Oncology departmental activities and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.

  • Must have a general knowledge of computers for spreadsheet computations and word processing.


Certification/License

  • Current licensure (RTT or RN) preferred. American Heart Association BLS required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Considerable mental concentration on variable projects. Frequently works under stressful conditions due to nature of patient’s disease and meeting time objectives. Lifting above the shoulders, shoulder to knee, knee to floor (50lb/25kg).

Working Conditions

  • Standard radiation worker safety health hazards inherent in this position. Minimal exposure to radioactive materials. Exposure to metal alloy, blood/body fluid, infectious diseases, bio-hazardous materials and hostile persons at times. Standard office conditions while performing non-technical duties.
