Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8/12 years experience or MS with 6-10 years.
  • Strong math fundamentals in signals, systems, DSP, tracking, electromagnetics.
  • Experience with Matlab, Python or similar for DSP and electromagnetics.
  • Must be a US citizen in North Alabama area or relocate; on-site; TS clearance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with published literature (IEEE).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and research DSP algorithms for radar.
  • Model, simulate, and analyze high-fidelity radar/RF systems.
  • Integrate and field-test RF sensors and systems.
  • Support CONUS/OCONUS deployment of sensor systems.
  • Collaborate on multiple tasks within larger codebases.

Leidos' Defense Open Sensors Division is seeking a Radar Signal Processing Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems. This position affords new or experienced engineers continued opportunities to learn and grow in technical knowledge of sensor and radar systems. The department encourages and frequently incorporates new ideas from all employees into our many sensor projects which span the entire DoD ecosystem. Opportunities for advancement into senior technical roles, as well as project or personnel management are also available.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Research and development of advanced digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
  • High-fidelity radar and RF modeling, simulation, and analysis. Related tool feature development and maintenance
  • Integration and field testing of RF sensors and systems
  • CONUS/OCONUS deployment of advanced sensor systems
  • A variety of tasks related to signal processing, measurement tracker processing, system performance metrics, sensor simulation, or utility tools as part of larger efforts or customer goals will be assigned. In this role, your organizational skills will be paramount and managing multiple tasks while ensuring the work remains compatible with the group’s larger codebases.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field with 8/12 applicable years of experience -OR- MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field plus 6-10years of experience.
  • Must have excellent math skills and/or possess and show good fundamentals in one or more of the following:
  • Signals and systems
  • Digital signal processing
  • Tracking algorithms
  • Electromagnetics
  • Should be able to apply one or more of the above skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation, antenna array theory, digital signal processing, tracking, algorithm development, and field testing of sensor systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding, evaluating, and implementing published scientific literature from sources such as IEEE.
  • Experience working with Matlab, Python, or similar scientific-based programming tools to implement math or scienced based phenomenology related to linear systems, digital signal processing, tracking, or electromagnetics is required.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background.
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL, area. This is NOT a remote or work-from-home position.
  • Must be a US citizen, possess or able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high performance computing languages such as C++ including CUDA
  • Experience in development or operations of radar HWILs
  • Experience with ADCs, DACs, clock distribution, or embedded systems
  • Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to fast-paced and highly productive work environment
  • Experience working on any radar or communications related program or project
  • Ability to create design documentation, requirements specifications, and other technical documentation
  • Experience utilizing AI tools to augment technical output (i.e. to improve/automate documentation or code generation)
  • Experience in Radar Resource Management algorithms and approaches to low-latency radar scheduling
  • MS degree from an ABET accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Relevant publications in listed technology areas

Pay Range

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
