Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville invites a Radar Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to work on radar signal processors, tracking algorithms, and RF sensor systems. The role involves simulation, field-testing, and deployment of advanced sensor systems.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical or Computer Engineering at an ABET-accredited school.
  • U.S. citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Resident of North Alabama (Huntsville area) or willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL.
  • Strong fundamentals in radar modeling, simulation, and software development.

Responsibilities

  • Support radar programs including signal processors, tracking algorithms, and RF sensors; simulate radar systems and field-test sensor systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine algorithms for performance and latency improvements; explore literature for potential gains.

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Radar Engineer Intern to join a diverse team in Summer 2027 to create unique solutions for complex sensor and radar orientated problems. Primary Responsibilities.

Candidate will support advanced technology radar programs including development of radar signal processors, radar tracking algorithms, advanced sensors in EW environments; simulation of radar systems; field-testing of RF sensors and systems; in addition to the deployment of advanced sensor systems.

In this role, you will work closely with other skilled engineers as they deep-dive into existing algorithms to find areas for improvement in both performance and processing latency. You will find newer algorithms available in literature to investigate and determine if they can provide improvements to the various radar programs.

Basic Qualifications.
  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a strong demonstration of the skills listed below.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL, area.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong technical background.
  • Should be able to apply skills to the areas of radar modeling & simulation and software development. Experience working with a team of engineers in solving difficult radar algorithm problems, peer reviewing new algorithms developed internally or obtained from industry.
  • Must have excellent teamwork skills and possess and show good fundamentals in the following:
    • MATLAB / Python
    • Modern C++ development
    • Familiarity with Linux
Preferred Qualifications.
  • Experience with radar simulation along with a strong background in statistics and probability.
  • Basic radar knowledge.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
