FWI (FedWriters, Inc.) is seeking a Research Analyst to synthesize radar datasets of tornadoes within close range and link observations to damage surveys. You will build a robust database and contribute to the scientific literature.

The role requires an MS in meteorology or related field, 8+ years of experience, and familiarity with weather radar data. Hybrid work in Norman, OK, with potential field deployments and collaboration with NSSL teams.

Qualifications

• MS degree (PhD preferred) in meteorology or atmospheric science.
• 8+ years of professional and/or academic experience.
• Experience with weather radar observations is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Compile, quality-control, and analyze research radar data of tornadoes observed at close range.
• Create and maintain a database linking radar observations to damage surveys; develop community contribution framework.
• Collaborate with NSSL scientists to interpret spatiotemporal evolution of tornadoes and publish findings in reports/journals.
• Contribute to data collection efforts with NSSL RAPTORs and design observational strategies for close-range radar observations.
