Job summary

The Cardiovascular Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. supports physicians in invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement, and assists with circulatory support devices such as IABP and Impella.

Candidates must graduate from an accredited cardiovascular technologist or radiologic technologist program or a health science program, have excellent communication skills, and proficient computer skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist or radiologic technologist program or applied science program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite).
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in health science field.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS within 3 months of employment; RCIS exam or Radiologic Technologist License within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with invasive cardiac, peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including pacemaker placement.
• Assist with circulatory support devices such as IABP and Impella as indicated.

The Cardiovascular Technologist will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac, peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. In addition the Cardiovascular Technologist will assist with circulatory support devices as indicated ( ie IABP and Impella).

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technologist program or graduate of an applied science program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/ or Google Suite platform.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in health science field.
• Licensed special procedures Radiologic Technologist.
• Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, invasive procedure area or special procedures radiology
• Hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 3 months of employment.
• Within 1 year of hire must have successfully passed RCIS exam given by CCI or Radiologic Technologist License

Contacts:

• Regular contact with Medical Center personnel, patients and visitors.

Working Conditions:

• Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs. and stands a minimum of 4 hours aday.
