Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist the registered radiologic technologist in limited radiographic procedures.
  • Prepares patients for visits by completing documentation and answering questions.
  • Cleans and prepares examination rooms for appointments.
  • Maintains radiographic equipment according to departmental standards.
  • Adheres to LSBME standards and ALARA principles during radiology imaging procedures.

Skills

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures
Ability to safely operate radiology equipment

Education

Job description

This position supports the delivery of individualized healthcare services to patients by assisting a registered radiologic technologist with limited radiographic procedures while adhering to safety protocols and procedures. The role collaborates with radiology team members to provide support to patients and physicians during visits, communicates with patients to ensure timely and accurate care, and maintains accurate documentation of medical information in the company’s data systems.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patient for visit by completing documentation, answering questions, and ensuring understanding of the procedure.
  • Cleans and prepares the examination room for the next appointment.
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures for accuracy to ensure the provider is prepared for the visit.
  • Maintains radiographic equipment and work area to departmental standards.
  • Performs radiology imaging in accordance with LSBME standards and the ALARA principle.
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards are met.
  • Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards in a timely manner and performs notification/remediation as necessary.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, adapting explanations of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and tailoring communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education – High school diploma or equivalent. Current enrollment in good standing in an accredited Medical Imaging Program.

Work Experience – None.

Certifications – Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiology procedures and operation/maintenance of radiology equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate radiology equipment.
Physical and Environmental Demands

Heavy work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area, directly with patients, and may be exposed to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
