Job description

Join to apply for the Rad (Diagnostic) Technologist role at UPMC.

UPMC Somerset is seeking a Full-time, Diagnostic Technologist to join their team.

Position Details
  • Perform imaging procedures independently, applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
  • Work 40 hours per week, with shifts from 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Work 2-3 holidays per year; no weekend requirements.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology program or verified completion with scheduled graduation.
  • ARRT Registry eligible; must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31, 33, 34, and 73 clearances or renewals.
Responsibilities
  1. Identify patients properly, review history, and follow departmental protocols.
  2. Administer contrast agents as ordered.
  3. Ensure exams are properly coded, tracked, and archived.
  4. Perform diagnostic radiography using established protocols.
  5. Operate complex imaging equipment accurately.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients and team members, demonstrating care and respect.
  7. Adjust protocols independently and apply ionizing radiation appropriately.
  8. Explain procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and comfort.
Additional Information

UPMC offers a sign-on bonus: $10,000 for Graduate Techs and $15,000 for Experienced Techs, with a 2-year commitment.
