Job Summary

Shadow Solar Technician assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on uneven terrain, roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules supporting systems.

• Use appropriate hand tools (e.g., crescent wrench, pliers, hammer, screwdriver) and power tools (e.g., drills, impact wrenches) to perform installation tasks in accordance with codes, standards, drawings, schematics, and instructions.
• Lay out, assemble, and install support structures for solar modules/panels as specified.
• Install structural, mechanical, rack system, and PV panels.
• Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies; clean tools, equipment, and work areas, maintaining a clean work environment.
• Participate in safety processes and programs, aiming for zero injuries. Report hazards and use stop work authority if necessary.
• Report accidents and near misses; participate in investigations.
• Engage in pre-job planning and safety discussions; identify and mitigate hazards.
• Respond to safety warnings and devices appropriately.
• Follow lockout/tag out procedures and site-specific safety protocols.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness on site.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Perform basic math calculations quickly and accurately.
• Listen to and incorporate suggestions and safety concerns from co-workers.
• Coordinate work with other crafts and team members.
• Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship programs.
• Produce quality work adhering to plans, specifications, and standards.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications; visualize 3D from 2D drawings.
• Assist in material storage, planning, and layout; learn to perform layout independently.
• Observe and report hazards or system issues; assist in troubleshooting and adjustments.
• If certified, operate construction equipment safely and perform daily inspections.
• Comply with the company's code of conduct and site policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including working in different crafts as trained.

Minimum Qualifications

0-6 months of experience or up to 1000 hours working as a laborer or helper in construction. Ability to learn assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar PV systems. Must have necessary tools (see Solar Tool List). Must be at least 18 years old. Must pass pre-employment screening including background check, drug test, and driving records, as applicable by law.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Lift up to 52 pounds.

• Work at heights on scaffolds, ladders, and steel frameworks.
• Work up to 12 hours in varying weather conditions.
• Additional PPE may be required.
• Work in hot, cold, bright, or low-light environments, and around hazardous equipment.
• This is a safety-sensitive position.
