The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for over 1.4 million Bronx community members. BXDA’s mission focuses on assisting crime victims and ensuring fairness to defendants, balancing appropriate punishment with justice. BXDA aims for excellence in representing the Bronx community.

In pursuit of this mission, BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Rackets Investigators.

Job Responsibilities
  • Investigate complaints and criminal activities such as fraud, larceny, public corruption, narcotics, gang crimes, elder and child abuse, organized crime, and racketeering. Provide pre-trial support and report findings accurately.
  • Perform undercover work and support undercover operations.
  • Locate and interview complainants and witnesses.
  • Participate in search warrants, secure, and preserve evidence.
  • Engage in court-authorized electronic surveillance.
  • Maintain proficiency with law enforcement equipment.
  • Testify in court regarding investigation findings.
  • Prepare detailed reports on activities and findings.
  • Perform related duties, including prisoner transports, witness protection, and arrests.
  • Ensure the safety of agency employees and facilities.
  • Possess excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Follow directions, policies, and procedures.
  • Interact effectively with staff and other law enforcement agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or high school graduation with at least two years of full-time paid police enforcement or investigative experience, or a satisfactory equivalent.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check and complete a NY State Certified Police Academy.
  • Valid NY State driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience.
  • Pass medical, psychological, and background screening.
  • U.S. citizenship, as required by NY Public Officers Law 2, 3-B.
Additional Information

Eligible employees may qualify for federal student loan forgiveness and state repayment programs. Residency in New York City is required.
