Job summary

New York State Gaming Commission is seeking Racing Inspectors for Buffalo Raceway and Batavia Downs locations. The positions are temporary, per diem assignments with a daytime/afternoon schedule at Buffalo Raceway and occasional evening shifts at Batavia Downs.

The team reports to the Presiding Judge and conducts track surveillance, sample collection, and compliance checks. Responsibilities include observing track operations, collecting biological samples, handling test materials, and providing

Qualifications

• Ability to physically perform assigned duties.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Must be good with horses and able to work in stalls, paddock areas and outside environments.
• Must be able to work one and a half hours before post time.

Responsibilities

• Observe operations at horse racing tracks to identify administrative and security problems.
• Collect blood and urine tags and samples.
• Accompany horses from the track to the test barn for sample collection.
• Ensure sample containers are identified, sealed and delivered for testing.
• Ensure attendants sign test cards and maintain daily activity books.
• Test jockeys with breathalyzers.
• Report evidence of faulty operations, regulatory violations and foul play.
• Testify at administrative hearings regarding suspensions, revocations and other violations.
