POSITION SUMMARY

Instructs youth class participants in a variety of youth based recreational programs. Demonstrates safe and effective exercises and skills for both general and special populations. Determine class skill and age levels to make adjustments as necessary. Provide a fun, safe learning experience. Works with an upbeat and positive attitude using innovative ideas to assist participants in achieving their goals. Communicates with parents and supervisor when necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The list of examples of work is not intended to be all-inclusive. They establish a flexible, functional base from which the incumbent operates. They may also be modified with additions, deletions, or changes required to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Prepares any needed materials for class.
  • Set up and take down classes.
  • Instruct group youth classes.
  • Welcomes and encourages all participants to work at their own pace.
  • Ability to recognize deficiencies in class and make necessary modifications as needed.
  • Reports all concerns to Recreation Supervisor.
  • Checks class rosters and accurately records participant attendance.
  • Must be responsible and punctual.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of communication techniques important.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Prior experience working with and understanding of youth ages 2-13 years old helpful.
HOURLY RATE

$15.46 - $23.20

This is a part-time position.
