Job summary

Bright Innovation Labs seeks a QA Lab Technician to support R&D chemists in preparing batches, testing stability, and data collection for product development. The role includes measuring, recording results, and maintaining lab records in a cGMP environment.

You will assist with batching, sampling, and testing of raw materials and finished products, while ensuring accurate math, measurements, and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare routine fragrance extension formula for batching for stability and compatibility testing.
  • Assist chemists with batching, filling samples, and shipping to customers.
  • Conduct physico-chemical testing of raw materials, in-process bulk and finished goods.
  • Set up, monitor, and record results for internal R&D accelerated stability.
  • Maintain files on stability, compatibility, and preservative efficacy testing.
  • Calibrate gauges and instruments and maintain lab clean-up.

Job description

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

To support the R&D Chemists in preparing batches, filling samples, conducting physico-chemical testing, maintaining retains and collecting data for product stability & compatibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Must maintain regular and punctual attendance and work cooperatively with others.
  2. Must adhere a safety-first approach in working in the lab environment and must comply with all company policies and procedures.
  3. Prepare routine fragrance extension formula for batching. for stability, compatibility, and preservative efficacy testing
  4. Assist chemists with batching, filling samples, and shipping to the customer.
  5. Prepare and submit samples for stability, compatibility, preservative efficacy testing.
  6. Physico-chemical testing of raw materials, In-Process bulk and finished good for analysis.
  7. Set up, monitor, test, and record results/observations for internal R&D accelerated stability.
  8. Maintain files on all stability, compatibility, and preservative efficacy testing of product.
  9. Maintain and calibrate all gauges and instruments.
  10. Assist in cleaning and organizing the R&D Laboratory.
  11. Promote compliance with Bright Innovation Labs policies, procedures, quality standards and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) as well as safety and environmental regulations. Participate, as required, in safety and cGMP training sessions, and other company training sessions
COMPETENCIES
  1. Strong Attention to Detail (Detail-oriented), results-oriented and ability to multi-task.
  2. Requires basic math and unit conversion skills.
  3. Must have strong verbal and writing skills along with strong communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  4. Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  5. Ability to operate a variety of testing equipment such as pH Meter, Viscometer, balance.
  6. Ability to identify and differentiate colors, and various olfactive properties (odor) of products.
  7. Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
CONSEQUENCES OF ERROR
  1. This position works with products and processes that will eventually be scaled up for large scale production in the plant. Attention to detail can go a long way to prevent potential errors and possible quality issues.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
  1. This is a full-time position. The base days and hours are Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per shift depending on shift assigned.
  2. Weekend work and overtime work is not expected for this position.
TRAVEL
  1. No travel is expected for this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  1. High school diploma (HSD) or general education degree (GED). Some college preferred.
  2. Previous working experience in similar QA positions is preferred.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE LANGUAGE SKILLS
  1. Must have good verbal and writing skills along with strong communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. Bilingual skills (Spanish) a plus. Ability to read and interpret internal and customer documents such as safety rules, formula, and email instructions. Ability to write a routine chemical name into the log book.
  2. Mathematical Skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  1. English language and knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
WORK AUTHORIZATION
  1. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. as a pre-condition of employment.
