Location Profile: Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with locking devices for critical aerospace applications. Operations include CNC Machining, Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.

Position Summary: Under supervision, the Experimental Machinist “B” will use blueprints to fabricate prototype components and assemblies, set up and operate CNC lathes, manual lathes, and mills. Must be able to read manufacturing drawings and operate machine shop equipment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing and basic assembly using blueprints.
  • Assist in fabricating prototype components; learn CNC Lathe, conventional Mill, and Engine Lathe operations.
  • Learn CAD software and operate machinery as needed. Generate test reports and procedures.
  • Assist in product re-work, evaluation, and sorting.
  • Perform basic setup operations, monitor and adjust CNC offsets, and inspect parts.
  • Meet production demands and operate multiple machines.
  • Follow safety procedures and produce parts according to standards.
  • Work with exotic steels and alloys like A286, Inconel 718, 4340, Titanium.
  • Securely assemble and position cutting tools, manipulate machine controls, and measure workpieces for conformance.
  • Document measurements, utilize SPC methods, and conduct product testing under supervision.

Required Skills:

  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to load and secure fixtures, set up CNC machines, and interpret drawings.
  • Mathematical skills and blueprint reading proficiency.
  • Visual and dimensional inspection skills.
  • Effective communication with team members.

Required Experience:

  • Knowledge of G and M codes, shop math, and basic CNC programming.
