Responsible for supporting the technical operations of the R&D laboratory, managing inventory and supplies, and providing technical support to both internal teams and external customers. This role blends strong organizational skills and customer service to ensure the efficient operation of the R&D lab and the quality of products.

As an R&D Technical Service Specialist, you will:

1. Technical Support & Product Development
2. Provide technical expertise and support for product formulations and ingredient changes
3. Collaborate with R&D formulators to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in product development
4. Customer & Team Support
5. Engage with internal teams and customers to understand technical needs, provide advice, and resolve product-related issues
6. Work with suppliers to source material samples, request pricing, and obtain supporting documentation
7. Deliver technical training and guidance to colleagues as needed
8. Keep detailed notes and records on projects, samples, and technical issues
9. Documentation & Compliance
10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of formulations, ingredients, inventory, and quality control tests
11. Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company safety policies
12. Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures
13. Lab Operations & Inventory
14. Maintain and update inventories of lab and office supplies, ensuring all materials are organized and readily available
15. Work with suppliers and purchasing teams to order supplies and procure new lab equipment
16. Track, store, and organize raw materials
17. Ensure regular maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of laboratory equipment; coordinate repairs as needed
18. Other Duties
19. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the R&D and technical service functions

What we are looking for:

• High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field
• College diploma or 3+ years of relevant industry experience in a laboratory, technical service, or product development role
• Strong record-keeping and organizational skills
• Proficiency with basic lab equipment (e.g., Brix meter, Viscometer, pH meter, Water Activity meter, Density meter)
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with Genesis software is an asset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of GLP, GMP, and laboratory safety
