Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking an R&D Senior Associate to join our Tax Credits & Incentives Advisory team. The role offers hybrid or fully remote work from within the United States and the chance to impact clients across industries with innovative tax credit work.

You will conduct interviews, draft narratives, build costing models, and scope benefits under IRC Section 41, partnering with experienced professionals to deliver practical, compliant R&D tax solutions.

Qualifications

Experience with IRC Section 41 research credit.
Recent industry experience in software development, consulting, or engineering.
Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
Knowledge of infrastructure concepts and web architectures.
Strong interviewing and written communication skills.
Ability to summarize findings in project narratives.

Responsibilities

Provide tax consulting on the Research and Development Tax Credit and IRC 174 capitalization rules.
Understand software development methodologies and programming concepts.
Conduct technical interviews to gather qualifying details.
Review technical documentation to draft project narratives.
Scope Research Tax Credit benefits and interact with clients across industries.
Create costing models to track expenditures and calculate credits.
Understand employer time tracking and integrate it into projects.
