Job summary

Fluidstack in Seattle, WA seeks an experienced Thermofluids R&D engineer to own structural analysis and containment design for high‑scale computing equipment. You will take pressure‑containing designs from concept to fabrication and ensure safety through rotordynamics and modal analyses.

The role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration with propulsion/flight experience valued and requires hands‑on testing, data correlation, and delivering robust hardware for next‑generation data centers.

Qualifications

Ability to take pressure-containing design from calculation to fabricated article.
Experience running FEA on rotating hardware with data correlation.
Ownership of containment or burst cases with safety justifications.
Collaborate with aerodynamic and structural teams on modal/critical-speed problems.
Experience signing off structures built and validated in service.

Responsibilities

Own the structural analysis of the machine: impeller and rotor stress, casing and containment.
Design pressure-containing structures and shepherd from concept to hardware.
Run rotordynamic and modal work with turbomachinery engineers.
Design containment case to keep failures inside the machine.
Design test cell structures and fixturing for loading scenarios.
