Job summary

Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division is seeking an R&D Software Engineer to lead mainframe security software development and mentor juniors. Location: Lisle, IL, with broad experience in zOS/zVSE environments.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, participate in design and code reviews, and ensure high-quality software through test-first and Agile practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience testing large-scale software and complex test configurations.
• Experience in IBM mainframe development environments (zOS/zVSE).
• Debugging with XDC and IPCS tools.
• Experience in IBM Assembler/Metal C on mainframe.
• Experience in implementing JCL for batch processing on zOS/zVSE.
• Familiarity with IBM languages such as C, ISPF CLIST, REXX, RESTful APIs and OO programming.

About The Role

Job Title

Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer with a passion for building high-quality applications using agile practices to join our Mainframe Security and Compliance team.

Work Location: Lisle, IL

What You Will Be Doing In A Typical Week:

• Applying your past experience to inform the product roadmap;
• Experimenting with new technologies that improve our software;
• Adopt a test-first approach to software development in which, where possible, the test is developed before the code;
• Participate in design and code reviews with other engineers;
• Participate in test plan reviews;
• Mentor Junior team members;
• Perform unit/module testing of software;
• Actively support and contribute to end of iteration demos;
• Responsible for assigned integration, testing, and deployment tasks;
• Actively foster continuous team improvement in self and team:
• Contribute to team retrospectives; help to identify and resolve team impediments;
• Take ownership of problems and continuously strive to become a better problem solver;
• Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.

• At least 8+ years of experience testing modern large-scale software and complex test configurations;
• Has mastered the basics of operating as a developer in the IBM mainframe environment;
• Experience debugging with tools like XDC, IPCS;
• Experience in software development using IBM Assembler/Metal C on the mainframe (zOS or zVSE) platform;
• Experience in implementing JCL to execute batch processes in zOS or zVSE;
• Additional experience in one or more of the following programming languages: IBM C, ISPF CLIST, REXX, RESTful APIs and Object-Oriented programming;

Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher or global equivalent in a software-related field.

Work Experience 8+ years of experience in software development or a related field.

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,00 - $172,800. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
