Hexcel in Decatur, Alabama is seeking an R&D Facilities Engineer to own reliability, modernization, and technical advancement of our R&D pilot facilities. You will lead capital upgrades, troubleshoot complex challenges, and push pilot capabilities for future aerospace programs.

Flex schedules are available (9/80 or 5/40). You will collaborate across teams to translate research into scalable, safe plant operations, supporting PAN precursor fiber development and carbon fiber technology

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or related field is required.
• 5+ years of experience with industrial processes and equipment, polymer processing experience preferred.
• Experience leading capital projects and working with machinery upgrades, maintenance and calibration.

Responsabilités

• Lead capital improvements to R&D facilities from conception to completion.
• Direct pilot plant activities to support innovation projects.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify pilot line improvements.
• Ensure trials, equipment and procedures documentation is maintained.
• Lead R&D research projects including trials in pilot facilities and at plant scale.
• Support process development, process optimization and product development for PAN precursor fibers.
