Job summary

IPG Photonics in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to support testing and manufacturing of laser systems and contribute to ongoing R&D projects. This hands-on role requires knowledge of optical components, meticulous documentation, and use of instruments like power meters, spectrometers, and oscilloscopes.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in optics/engineering or related field, strong detail-orientation, and good communication.

Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent in optics, engineering, physics, or related technical disciplines.
Ability to handle precision opto-mechanical components.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read optical/mechanical schematics.
Previous Cleanroom experience.
Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office proficiency.
Good technical writing and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Assembly of precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
Inspection and testing of incoming optics.
Testing of optical assemblies to ensure compliance to the required specs.
Supplement Precision Assembly work center during periods of insufficient capacity.
Assist in the generation of new product or sub-assembly documentation and work instructions.
Provide feedback to engineering regarding errors or omissions in existing documentation.
Assist in the completion of ERP work order paperwork for proper processing and costing of jobs.
