Job summary

IPG Photonics in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to support testing and manufacturing of laser systems and contribute to ongoing R&D projects. Ideal candidates have an associate degree in optics/engineering or related field, strong detail-orientation, and good communication.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in optics, engineering, physics, or related technical disciplines.
  • Ability to handle precision opto-mechanical components.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read optical/mechanical schematics.
  • Previous Cleanroom experience.
  • Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Good technical writing and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly of precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
  • Inspection and testing of incoming optics.
  • Testing of optical assemblies to ensure compliance to the required specs.
  • Supplement Precision Assembly work center during periods of insufficient capacity.
  • Assist in the generation of new product or sub-assembly documentation and work instructions.
  • Provide feedback to engineering regarding errors or omissions in existing documentation.
  • Assist in the completion of ERP work order paperwork for proper processing and costing of jobs.
