Job summary

IPG Photonics in Oxford, MA is seeking an R&D technician to assist its daily operations with testing and manufacture of laser systems, as well as with ongoing R&D projects.

This is a hands-on position in a laboratory that requires knowledge of optical components, careful handling, and detailed record-keeping. The candidate should be systematic, self-motivated, and capable of using analytical instruments.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in optics, engineering or physics or related field.
• Ability to handle precision opto-mechanical components.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and read schematics.
• Previous Cleanroom experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (spreadsheets, word processing).
• Good technical writing skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision opto-mechanical and optical sub-assemblies.
• Inspect and test incoming optics.
• Test optical assemblies to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Assist in the ERP work order paperwork and costing.
• Support in periods of low capacity to supplement assembly.
• Provide feedback to engineering on documentation and procedures.
• Assist in generating new product or sub-assembly documentation and work instructions.
